Session Prep Guide
What you need to know before your photoshoot…
On the Day of the Session:
Stimulate & keep baby awake for an hour or so before the session: This helps baby arrive nice and sleepy. A warm bath, gentle play, or talking to baby while they’re in just a nappy can help keep them alert.
Feed baby right before the session: A full tummy = a happy, sleepy baby. You're welcome to arrive a little early to feed in the studio, especially if you've had a long drive (please just give me an ETA).
Top tip: Try to offer extra feeds in the 12 hours before your session to help baby settle into a deeper sleep during the shoot.
Dress baby in easy to take off clothes: the less you baby has on the less I’ll need to disturb them when they need to be undressed.
What to bring to the session…
Honestly — very little! I’ve got everything here in the studio: nappies, wipes, wraps, outfits, and even spare dummies (brand new for each session). You can arrive knowing you're completely covered.
The only thing I highly recommend bringing is a bottle of expressed milk if you have one — or formula if that’s an option. It really helps settle baby into a nice deep sleep, which means more peaceful posing and a smoother session for all.
Snacks, water, and coffee are provided — you’re in good hands!
What to Wear
For baby: All outfits and wraps are provided. You don’t need to bring a thing!
For parents:
Keep it simple: whites, greys, soft blues, pale pinks — these photograph beautifully and work well with the warm studio light.
The studio is kept toasty warm for baby’s comfort, so light clothing is best.
I have a beautiful curated wardrobe for mums with flattering dresses in soft, neutral tones — no stress about what to wear postpartum.
Dads: a plain white or light neutral shirt works best. Please bring one along if it’s not worn in.
Just one small thing: Please remove any chipped nail polish — your hands may feature in the images.
Frequently asked questions…
-
Try to keep baby awake for about an hour before the session — it really helps them settle into a deep sleep once we're underway. A warm bath, gentle play, or time in just a nappy with some stimulation (like talking or tummy time) can help. It might feel like a challenge, but it makes a huge difference!

Please feed baby right before the session — either just before leaving home or once you arrive at the studio (you’re welcome to come a little early). A full tummy helps baby fall into that deep, dreamy sleep we love for photos.

If baby uses one, definitely bring it along. If not, no worries — I have brand-new dummies available for each session and may suggest using one briefly if baby needs help settling. You never need to use one again, but it can be a game changer in the studio.

Nope! I’ve got you totally covered — nappies, wipes, wraps, outfits, headbands, bonnets… you name it. The only thing I suggest bringing is a bottle of expressed milk or formula, if you’re happy to — it really helps settle baby into a deep sleep.
I also provide snacks, drinks, and a comfy spot for parents to relax. You’re in safe hands.

Great question! Toddlers are always welcome, but they do tend to tire quickly. I recommend bringing two cars if possible so we can photograph family and sibling images first, and then one parent can take the toddler home while we continue with the newborn session. Feel free to bring along a couple of small toys, books, or snacks to keep them entertained while they’re here.

Totally normal! I expect it — and honestly, I don’t even flinch. I’ll change nappies, clean up any mess, and settle baby gently throughout. There is zero pressure. Every baby is different, and that’s exactly what makes your session so special.
